Founders Postgraduate Prize

The Founders Prize of the York Medical Society is open to all doctors working in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery and applicants are invited to submit and present an audit, a case report/series, original research or a survey that has been conducted whilst working in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery.

Topic Scope

Submit an audit, case report/series, original research, or survey conducted while working in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery.

Key Dates

  • Advert distributed to Yorkshire and Humber Deaner: November 2026

  • Submission Deadline: February 2027 tbc

  • Presentation Date: Friday 12th March 2027, 7pm

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: £350

  • Runner-up: £125 (awarded to all other finalists - maximum of 4)

  • Certificates: Provided to all finalists for their portfolio

Eligibility

Open to all resident doctors/doctors in training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery. Each candidate may submit only one application.

Shortlisting Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated on:

  • Originality

  • Clarify

  • Clinical significance

  • Robustness of methodology

Presentation Details

  • Location: York Medical Society, 23 Stonegate, York

  • Format: In-person

  • Tools: Microsoft Powerpoint

  • Duration: 12 minutes (penalties for exceeding time)

  • Q&A: 5 minutes with YMS members

Judging Criteria

Candidates will be scored on:

  • Presentation style

  • Content quality
