York Unlocked at YMS raises money for British Heart Foundation as we launch our new Mental Health Exhibition.

We had a very successful day on Saturday 27 September. The Rooms were open to the public as part of the York Unlocked Festival. We opened our new exhibition on the history of mental health care in York. YMS Trustee Dr Bob Adams launched his new book about the history of the York Asylum, latterly known as Bootham Park Hospital: ‘Flighty, melancholic and wild: 250 Years of Mental Health in York’. Copies of the book can be purchased by calling in at the office at 23 Stonegate. After visiting the exhibition visitors enjoyed tea and cake raising in excess of £360 for the British Heart Foundation - one of this year’s chosen charities: for YMS.
