Art, in all its forms plays a key role in shaping our idea of the world. It is often created for political effect to highlight injustices in our world. Some artists are described as activists, but Ai Wei Wei says he would call this action humanism, standing up for what makes us human.

Maybe you watched the drama Adolescence on Netflix last year, or you have seen the Ken Loach film, I, Daniel Blake at the cinema, or viewed the art of Ai Wei Wei in a gallery? You've probably heard of Pussy Riot and the Killers, maybe even listened to the words of their songs. Have you read a book that made you feel differently about the suffering caused by inequity in our world?
